How amazing is this dressing room! I love how it's not trying to hard, its practical and open so you can see all of your shoes and clothes without everything being ordered into cupboards and boxes like in a museum. These images are from a project I'm working on using old 'found' negatives. I bought a set of 5 negatives about a month ago from Spitalfields market in London. The project has been on-going and has changed a lot since it started. I posted some photographs before, where I had painted on the developer, these are from the same project. I've shifted the project quite a bit since then, as I could see that the project wasn't really going anywhere. Here I have crumpled the photo paper before I exposed the negatives, to distort the image and to have a similar hide/reveal as the painted on developer. I then photographed the paper crumpled up in the studio, to show the photograph as an object. Enjoy.

I found this great image of the model Lara Stone the other day. She seems to be the the model of the moment, she was on the cover of Vogue this month, and her signature no-eyebrows look was seen in the Givenchy ad campaign, and in several catwalk shows models were walking down the runway sans eyebrows. Will you be inspired by her look to shave off your eyebrows? I know I won't. Enjoy.

I watched the hilarious fashion industry parody 'Zoolander' last night. In one scene the fashion designer Mugatu designs a 'homeless chic' collection called Derelicte. Then today I found these images from W magazine, where models are presented like they're homeless. But in true fashion fantasy style instead of being wrapped in bin liners and dirty old clothes, they're draped in designer clothes and designer shopping bags. I love how such a ridiculous idea from Zoolander has made its way into reality. Enjoy.

I took some photos of my house-mate the other day for a project, and I got the film put onto cd at Snappy Snaps. When I uploaded them I noticed how visible the film grain was. Usually I wouldn't like that but I think it looks quite nice here. Enjoy.

They Shoot Heroes Don't They?

Here are some of the final shots for the Vanity Fair shoot "Ain't We Got Style" which I posted behind-the-scenes shots for earlier. I prefer the black and white final image, as it's more in keeping with the original aesthetic, and I don't like how they've implied that My Man Godfrey was shot in color. I was much more impressed with the behind the scenes shots. What do you think?

New House...

I recently moved into a beautiful new house in the east end of London. I got inspiration from other blogs as to how to organize and present my things. I've ordered my books by color, placing old cameras as bookends, making my shelves much more attractive. I also bought lots of white storage boxes from Ikea to hide all my junk in, and carried through the white theme to the furniture, making the room feel brighter. I also dug out some old photos I bought at a nyc flea market and found a cheap solution to hanging them, by clipping them up with pegs and string. Hope you enjoy how my room looks as much as I do. Enjoy.

I really love these cinematography style photographs by Gregory Crewdson. He sets up these images like a movie, he builds entire sets, hires a whole crew, including a cinematographer. And he has a movie budget to work with, and I think he doesn't even take the photograph himself, he conceptualizes the finished image and hires people to realize it. Aren;t they beautiful though.
